Hello everyone, I have hijacked our blog page today to bring you the first of my antics termed #PRGirlDiaries – the things I get up to when I am not at our hip office! The events I attend and the people I meet. Oh by the way, my name is Karen and I am the Cameroon based PR Girl at ModeMaison PR in Douala.

Last weekend I attended the 17th edition of the Ecrans Noirs film festival in Yaounde. This festival is an opportunity to discover/be introduced to new talents in the cinema arena as well as get up and close with the films that are making waves in Africa.

I had the opportunity to tour the festival village, get acquainted with the directors, actresses and actors and producers and watch a live question and answer session with the cast and crew of Ninah’s Dowry; the most celebrated film on the night scooping up to 3 awards including best actress to Mbufung Seikeh aka Vivica Seikeh at the closing ceremony held at Palais de Congres.

Our Culture Minister; Ama Tutu Muna gave her speech which included a promise to have 2 cinema outlets in Cameroon by the end of the year. Does that mean Yaounde and Douala? Let’s wait and see!

It was truly a good event and a wonderful night talking and mingling and just connecting with the film makers and leaders Neba Lawrence, Anurin Nwunembom, Mr. Vitalis Otia, Mr. Chiatoh Collins, Solange Yijika (I call her the “Omotola” of Cameroon), Lucie Memba, Djimeli Gervais, Princess Njoya, Miss Jossy Lala from Nigeria as well as Blandine Mbanwei – hostess of the night and Linda Bonglack – CRTV presenter.

Below are some captures of the night…

On the fashion side, I was wearing the Magdaline Midi dress in bright orange by AQAQ (formerly Aqua by Aqua), black Sergio Rossi peep toe pumps and carrying an evening box clutch by Next. My fab makeup was done by this rising make up artist Sandra Ekukole ( 00237 9963 4110). She used Milani Oil-free liquid foundation in 11 Honey Bronze, MAC Studio Finish concealer in NC50, Black Radiance pressed powder in Warm Hazel, Mary Kay Cheek Colour in Golden Copper and lips: a dab of Wet n Wild mega last lipstick in 903C topped with Rimmel London Vinyl lipgloss in Cosmic.

There goes my weekend escapade in Yaounde! Hope to bring you more #PRGirlDiaries soon. Stay tuned.
