PR GIRL DIARIES: FABRYAN LONDON SS14 COLLECTION PRESS DAY

Image

London based luxury brand Fabryan London; a womenswear brand by a Nigerian designer named Samantha-Jane Agbontaen had a 2 day press day at Blow PR on Great Titchfield Street in West London which ended today and we had the chance to attend.

What is a Press Day?

A press day is a great opportunity for journalists, bloggers, photographers, stylists and most times ardent followers of a particular brand to get a touch and feel of the collection pieces, check out the fabrics used more closely, pay particular attention to each piece, take pictures and find out more about the inspiration behind the collection in a cool and relaxed environment so that they can write about it or talk about after from a first hand knowledge. It is also a chance for stylists to pick up brand new pieces for their projects or clients.

The SS14 collection “Enchanted Garden” at Blow PR was a colourful appreciation of high quality tailoring including hand beaded dresses (we were told by Samantha that it took 3 months to finish the dresses!) and very rich luxurious fabrics featuring must have pieces for the fashion loving, fun desiring international fashionistas.

The brand recently showcased with rave reviews at the Durban Fashion Fair and is ready to tackle the haute runway that MBFWA provides by unveiling the SS14 collection in association with Madison Shoes SA, Sole Inspiration and Brand Woman Africa.

The SS14 collection with a theme centred on butterflies and leaves; both notions of change and new beginnings is made from delicate luxury fabrics including lace, metallic hot foiled leather and cotton. The collection was inspired by a picture of butterflies nestled together and the butterfly effects on the pieces are all handmade using African print fabric to give them a 3D feel.

The leaves inspiration on the pieces are made from last cut leather using metallic pastel colours and these leaves effect is also carried through in the introduction of a new product line – unique neckpieces in collaboration with Sole Inspiration.
